Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children - Venice Film Festival Footage

The footage premiered in 2005 at the Venice Film Festival as a promotional showcase for Square Enix's computer-animated feature, Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. This rare exhibition was a strategic move by the studio to bridge the gap between traditional cinema and video game aesthetics, aiming to prove that the film’s high-fidelity visuals could stand alongside professional cinematic achievements on the international stage.

The visual direction, led by director Tetsuya Nomura, focused on pushing the limits of the proprietary engine used to render the characters from the 1997 game. The reception in Venice was largely positive, particularly among animation critics who noted the film's distinct departure from western CGI norms, cementing its reputation as a technical benchmark for real-time and pre-rendered assets within the industry.
