Where it came from
Force of Will The Movie is an anthology film released in 2018, based on the popular Force of Will trading card game. The project was conceived as a multi-part cinematic experience intended to expand the game's lore and showcase its visual storytelling potential to a global audience. The production involved multiple animation studios, each tasked with bringing a different chapter of the game's high-fantasy universe to life through distinct animation styles.
The creative direction focused on translating the intricate illustrations found on the cards into cohesive narrative shorts. By collaborating with various international animators and directors, the producers aimed to honor the aesthetic roots of the source material while exploring the game's complex mythology. Upon its release, the film was primarily received by the existing player base as an ambitious attempt to bridge the gap between tabletop gaming and digital media.
