Forest this flower bloom

Forest this flower bloom is a 2010 short stop-motion animation directed by Tomoyasu Murata. Produced by his eponymous company, the film serves as a poignant example of Murata's signature aesthetic, which often utilizes handcrafted puppets and intricate lighting to evoke themes of memory, nature, and the passage of time. The film is characterized by a melancholic, dreamlike quality that distinguishes it from mainstream commercial animation.

The production process for this film involved meticulous physical fabrication, with Murata himself overseeing the design of the puppets and the set environments. By favoring tactile, physical materials over digital rendering, Murata sought to emphasize the textures and inherent imperfections of the medium. Upon its release, the film was primarily recognized within international animation festival circuits, where it was praised for its artistic sincerity and technical craftsmanship.
