Gall Force 3: Stardust War

Gall Force 3: Stardust War was released in 1988 as the third installment in the landmark Gall Force original video animation series produced by AIC. Following the events of Eternal Story, this chapter serves as a bridge between the initial conflict and the later New Era saga, focusing on the escalating interstellar tensions and the complex tactical maneuvers of the series' female-led casts. It emerged during a golden age for the OVA format, which allowed studios to produce more ambitious and mature science fiction animation than was typically permitted for broadcast television at the time.

The visual direction and character designs were heavily influenced by the aesthetic trends of late 1980s space opera, emphasizing sleek mechanical designs and the distinct, stylized character art that defined the franchise. Created by the core team at AIC, the production leaned into the darker, more militaristic tone of the escalating war between the Solnoids and Paranoids. Upon release, it was received as a technically proficient expansion of the series' lore, recognized by fans of the genre for its refined animation quality and its commitment to the hard science fiction themes established in the previous two entries.
