Gall Force: THE REVOLUTION

Gall Force: The Revolution was released in 1996 as a four-part original video animation series, serving as a reboot of the influential Gall Force science fiction franchise that began in the mid-1980s. Produced by Movic and AIC, the series sought to modernize the narrative for a mid-nineties audience by reinterpreting the classic conflict between the Solnoids and the Paranoids, focusing on a more grounded and character-driven approach to the franchise's established space opera tropes.

The character designs for this iteration were handled by Shinya Hasegawa, who shifted the aesthetic away from the eighties-style rounded animation toward a sharper, more angular look common in late-nineties OVA productions. While the series maintains the militaristic themes and high-stakes drama of its predecessors, it was received as a distinct stylistic departure that prioritized serialized storytelling over the standalone action-adventure format of the original 1986 trilogy.
