Where it came from
Ganbare! Lulu Lolo 2nd Season was produced by Fanworks in 2014, continuing the charming adventures of twin bears Lulu and Lolo. The series is based on the popular picture book series Kuma no Gakkou, or The Bears' School, which was created by author Hiroyuki Aihara and illustrator Nami Adachi. This television adaptation was designed to translate the gentle, whimsical aesthetic of the original books into a format accessible to young children, focusing on daily life and small, heartwarming challenges.
The animation direction under Fanworks utilized a distinct, simplified style that retained the soft, storybook quality of the source material. Upon its release, the second season was received as a gentle staple of Japanese children's programming. It was praised for its wholesome tone and consistent character design, successfully extending the longevity of the franchise by capturing the endearing spirit of the twins that had already resonated with fans of the original illustrated books.
