Beer cans and a whisky glass are placed in an open space on the floor. Though a bit disorganized, ”Your” room is filled with art supplies and an electric guitar lining the perimeter of the room.
The alarm on a phone goes off, and “You” leisurely wake up to start your day.
The anemone flower that “I” liked. A precious flower that holds memories which tie “You” and “I” together. After opening your bedroom closet one day, “You” become engrossed in your memories of "Me." A story that represents “Me,” “You,” our “Childhood Friend,” and our goodbyes.

Where it came from
Garden of Remembrance is a short film produced by the animation studio Science SARU, released in 2024 as part of a creative collaboration led by director Masaaki Yuasa. The project emerged from a desire to explore themes of grief, memory, and the lingering presence of those who have passed, utilizing the studio's signature fluid, experimental animation style to create an ethereal and emotionally resonant atmosphere.
The aesthetic of the film was heavily influenced by the conceptual vision of Yuasa and the collaborative spirit of the Science SARU team, who prioritized abstract visual storytelling over a strictly linear narrative. Upon its release, the film was received as a contemplative piece of animation, praised by critics for its evocative use of color and music to convey complex human emotions, further cementing the studio's reputation for pushing the boundaries of traditional anime formats.
