Where it came from
Gift: Eternal Rainbow Special was produced by OLM in 2007 as a supplemental release for the Pokémon franchise. Following the conclusion of the Advanced Generation series, this special was crafted to bridge the narrative transition between story arcs, maintaining engagement among the franchise's dedicated audience during a period of transition in the animation team's output.
The production utilized the signature aesthetic established during the Diamond and Pearl era of the anime. It reflects the collaborative design approach of OLM's creative staff, who aimed to provide a contained, visually evocative story that leveraged the established lore of the series while experimenting with tone and pacing within a standalone, short-form format.
