Sakata Ginpachi is a high-school teacher with his trademark silver, curly hair, dead-fish eyes, and sloppily worn lab coat. He's in charge of Gintama High School's Class 3-Z: home to a ragtag group of frequent troublemakers including idol otaku, hurloines, stalkers, mayo guzzlers, sadists, delinquents, and many more.
If you thought this roller-coaster life would have Ginpachi holding his head in his hands, you thought wrong, as he nonchalantly resolves any trouble that comes his way. And if you thought this unique group of students would overcome adversity and come together as one, you thought wrong again, as they continue to raise hell!
"Oh, come on! Can 3-Z get any more ungovernable?!"
You can never tell what this atypical teacher is thinking and he never seems up for the task, but he always comes through when it counts. He and his students star in this school-life comedy full of laughs, tears, and the whole kitchen sink! Forget nerds, forget jocks, and come enjoy the kind of youthful days that only Gintama could ever deliver!

Where it came from
Mr. Ginpachi's Zany Class serves as a spin-off to the long-running Gintama franchise, produced by Bandai Namco Pictures and released in 2025. Based on the light novel series Ginpachi-sensei, the show shifts the focus from the chaotic samurai life of Gintoki Sakata to his role as a high school teacher. This adaptation was designed to capitalize on the enduring popularity of Hideaki Sorachi's original work while providing a fresh, comedic take on the established character dynamics within a classroom setting.
The production maintains the meta-humor and irreverent tone that defined the original series, with the studio aiming to replicate the established visual style while adapting to the episodic, slice-of-life nature of the source material. Upon its debut, the series was received primarily by the established Gintama fanbase as a lighthearted expansion of the franchise, noted for its self-referential writing and the return of the familiar voice cast who have become synonymous with these characters over the past two decades.
