Civilization is dead, but Chito and Yuuri are still alive. So they hop aboard their beloved Kettenkrad motorbike and aimlessly wander the ruins of the world they once knew. Day after hopeless day, they look for their next meal and fuel for their ride. But as long as the two are together, even an existence as bleak as theirs has a ray or two of sunshine in it, whether they're sucking down their fill of soup or hunting for machine parts to tinker with. For two girls in a world full of nothing, the experiences and feelings the two share give them something to live for…

Where it came from
Girls' Last Tour originated as a manga series by Tsukumizu, serialized starting in 2014, and was adapted into a 12-episode television anime series by studio White Fox in 2017. The story follows two young girls, Chito and Yuuri, as they navigate a desolate, post-apocalyptic world in their Kettenkrad, searching for food and fuel. It emerged during a period of interest in 'iyashikei' or healing-style narratives, subverting the genre by placing its gentle, philosophical character explorations against a bleak, crumbling urban landscape.
The anime adaptation is noted for its faithful preservation of the source material's minimalist aesthetic and its somber, atmospheric direction. Directed by Takaharu Ozaki, the series leans heavily into the contrast between the protagonists' innocent curiosity and the ruins of a lost civilization. Upon its release, it received significant critical acclaim for its mature existential themes, unique art style, and hauntingly beautiful musical score by Kenichiro Suehiro, cementing its status as a poignant reflection on life and impermanence.
