Too much tankery and not enough studying for her entrance exams has landed Momo in the hot seat! Luckily her friends won’t let her flunk out without a fight, and they’ve hatched a foxy plan to put her back on top. Miho’s stepping down to let Momo take up the mantle of commander, because if she can lead the team to victory in the Continuous Cup, Momo can retake her exams. The stakes have never been higher for the team as they fight for tank supremacy both on and off the combat field!

Where it came from
Girls und Panzer das Finale: Part 1 was released in 2017 as the opening installment of a six-part theatrical film series. Produced by studio Actas, this project serves as a direct continuation of the television series and its subsequent film, following the Oarai Girls Academy tankery team as they navigate a new high-stakes tournament to save their school from closure. The series continues the unique premise of 'senshado'—an artistic and strategic sport involving historic tanks—which remains the central thematic pillar of the franchise.
The production maintains the series' signature blend of detailed historical tank recreations and lighthearted school-life character dynamics. Under the direction of Tsutomu Mizushima, the animation team focused on refining the tactical battle choreography that became a hallmark of the franchise, aiming to expand the world-building by introducing new teams and environments. Upon its release, the film was well-received by fans for its technical improvements and its commitment to the established aesthetic, solidifying its place as a significant chapter in the ongoing narrative.
