Where it came from
Go-chan.: Moko to Chinjuu no Mori no Nakama-tachi was released in 2017 as part of a multimedia campaign centered on Go-chan, the official mascot of the Japanese television network TV Asahi. The character, a panda-like creature, was originally created to promote the station and has appeared in various short-form animations, merchandise, and promotional spots. This feature-length project serves as an expansion of the mascot's narrative universe, utilizing the expertise of Shin-Ei Animation, the studio long associated with iconic titles like Doraemon and Crayon Shin-chan.
The film was designed to appeal to younger audiences while strengthening brand recognition for TV Asahi. Production focused on accessible, gentle storytelling that aligns with the established aesthetic of the Go-chan character. By bringing the mascot into a formal cinematic format, the studio aimed to deepen the audience's emotional connection to the character through a feature-length adventure set within the 'Chinjuu no Mori' or 'Rare Beast Forest' setting, maintaining the bright, cheerful visual style consistent with the network's broader family-oriented programming.
