The race to obtain the lost Ainu gold is nearing its peak, as even more formidable ex-prisoners are set on keeping their tattooed skins intact. Saichi "The Immortal" Sugimoto and Asirpa can finally move forward together, but Asirpa's time with Kiroranke and Ogata Hyakunosuke has slightly altered her ambition and strengthened her determination. As their party leaves the Russian territory, they gain a peculiar follower.
Meanwhile, Toshizou Hijikata's crew makes major moves to get invaluable skins, falling into the poisonous trap of a dangerous convict. Although each group possesses a strong advantage over the others, even First Lieutenant Tokushirou Tsurumi—the most powerful and ruthless contender—cannot advance without Asirpa's help. However, his ominous plans for when they will inevitably meet remain a mystery.

Where it came from
Golden Kamuy Season 4 marks a significant transition in the production history of the long-running anime adaptation of Satoru Noda’s manga. Following three seasons produced by Geno Studio, the series moved to Brain's Base in 2022. This shift was necessitated by the need to maintain the ambitious scale of the narrative, which follows the search for Ainu gold in the rugged landscapes of Hokkaido during the post-Russo-Japanese War era.
The design and animation direction under Brain's Base aimed to uphold the series' established aesthetic, balancing the brutal, realistic action sequences with the idiosyncratic humor that defines the work. Despite the studio change, the production sought to maintain thematic continuity with the source material, focusing on the historical depth and cultural research that characterizes Noda’s original vision. The season was received as a continuation of the arduous journey of Sugimoto and Asirpa, navigating the complex web of shifting alliances and historical conflict.
