Where it came from
Released in 2015 as a promotional short for the Gundam: G no Reconguista television series, this special was crafted to bridge the narrative gap and expand upon the complex world-building established by creator Yoshiyuki Tomino. It was produced by Sunrise to coincide with the conclusion of the series, functioning as a supplementary piece designed to provide additional context regarding the Universal Century history that informs the series' unique timeline.
The animation and character design carry the distinct, vibrant aesthetic hallmarks of the primary series, reflecting Tomino's desire to move away from the grim, realistic military tone of earlier Gundam iterations toward a more colorful and philosophical exploration of space age technology. While it was received by fans primarily as a niche curiosity for dedicated enthusiasts of the G-Reconguista lore, it serves as a testament to the franchise's enduring commitment to evolving its visual language.
