Provenance

Where it came from

Released in 2011 by Bandai Visual, this short is a comedic bonus feature included with the limited edition home video release of the three-part original video animation series .hack//Quantum. It was produced during a period when the .hack franchise was expanding its multimedia reach, offering a lighthearted, super-deformed caricature of the series' lore to balance the more serious tone of the main narrative.

The animation focuses on the character Chim Chim, a recurring mascot-like entity in the .hack universe, placing him in a playful, meta-fictional setting. Designed to provide fans of the franchise with an irreverent look at the virtual world of The World, the short was received as a niche collectible for dedicated followers of the project, highlighting the studio's commitment to creating expansive supplemental content for the .hack brand.
