Where it came from
Haikyu!! the Movie: The End and the Beginning was produced by Production I.G and released in 2015 as the first compilation film for the popular anime series based on Haruichi Furudate's manga. It was created to condense the events of the anime's first season, serving as an entry point for new viewers and a retrospective for existing fans leading up to the subsequent theatrical releases.
The film maintains the high-energy aesthetic and sharp character animation established by director Susumu Mitsunaka and his team at Production I.G. By focusing on the initial formation of the Karasuno High School volleyball team and their early development, the film received positive reception for its ability to retain the emotional core and intensity of the source material's sports action despite the necessary narrative trimming.
