Haikyuu!!: Bakemono-tachi no Iku Tokoro

Haikyuu!!: Bakemono-tachi no Iku Tokoro, often known as the 'Lev Kujou' special, was released in 2014 as an original animation DVD bundled with the limited edition of the 15th volume of Haruichi Furudate’s manga series. Produced by Studio Production I.G, the episode serves as a supplementary piece to the first season of the anime adaptation. It focuses on the character Lev Haiba during his early days of training with Nekoma High, capturing his initial struggle to coordinate his height with the team’s defensive playstyle.

The animation maintains the high-energy, character-driven aesthetic established by director Susumu Mitsunaka and the production team during the first season. By focusing on the dynamics between Lev and Kenma Kozume, the special provides insight into the series' thematic emphasis on team synergy and the patience required to integrate new talent. It was well-received by fans for its ability to flesh out minor characters while staying consistent with the lighthearted yet determined spirit of the broader Haikyuu!! franchise.
