Where it came from
Hajimete no Orusuban was released in 2020 by the studio Mary Jane as an adult-oriented OVA. The production emerged from the specific niche of Japanese independent animation studios that focus on character-driven narratives, often utilizing a constrained visual style to emphasize intimate storytelling and specific tropes inherent to the adult animation market.
The design and direction of this title adhere to the standardized aesthetic conventions prevalent in modern adult OVA production, prioritizing character model consistency and specific lighting cues to establish mood. Like many entries in the Mary Jane catalog, it was developed for a specialized demographic of collectors and enthusiasts, garnering reception primarily within online forums dedicated to the cataloging and critical discussion of adult animated media.
