Haven't You Heard? I'm Sakamoto: Haven’t You Heard? I was Sakamoto

Haven't You Heard? I'm Sakamoto, originally a manga series by Nami Sano, was adapted into an anime by Studio DEEN in 2016. The project was conceived to capture the absurd, deadpan humor of the source material, which centers on a high school student whose impeccable perfection in mundane situations becomes the focal point of the narrative. The studio opted for a stylish, minimalist aesthetic to emphasize Sakamoto's detached and stoic nature, directly reflecting the character's reputation as the 'coolest' student in class.

This specific OVA, often associated with the conclusion of the series, serves as an additional episode that expands on the series' thematic focus on social dynamics and comedic timing. Upon its release, the adaptation was praised by audiences and critics for its faithful translation of Sano's visual gags and the expressive, idiosyncratic character designs that defined the manga. It remains a notable example of the gag-comedy genre in mid-2010s animation, standing out for its commitment to the protagonist's unflappable persona.
