First year high school student Sakamoto isn't just cool, he's the coolest! Almost immediately after starting school, he began attracting everyone's attention. The girls love him, and most of the boys resent him. There's even a boy in the class who works as a model, but who is constantly upstaged by Sakamoto! No matter what tricks the other boys try to play on him, Sakamoto always manages to foil them with ease and grace. Though Sakamoto may seem cool and aloof, he helps others when asked, such as in the case of the boy in his class who was being constantly bullied. No matter what difficulties Sakamoto encounters, he moves through his high school life with confidence and class!

Where it came from
Haven't You Heard? I'm Sakamoto, known in Japan as Sakamoto Desu ga?, originated as a celebrated manga series written and illustrated by Nami Sano, serialized from 2012 to 2015. The story centers on an impossibly perfect high school student whose unflappable composure and graceful handling of petty rivalries transform mundane situations into scenes of absurdity. The series earned significant acclaim for its dry wit and the singular, stoic charisma of its protagonist, leading to a prestigious win at the Natalie Manga Awards.
The 2016 anime adaptation was produced by Studio DEEN under the direction of Shinji Takamatsu. Known for his work on surreal comedies, Takamatsu aimed to translate Sano's clean, minimalist art style into a kinetic visual language that emphasized Sakamoto's deliberate, elegant movements. Upon its release, the series was well-received by critics for its faithful dedication to the manga's tone, effectively capturing the comedic tension between Sakamoto’s flawless execution and the chaotic reactions of those around him.
