When Nube and his class arrive at a small island to carry out beach activities, they heard a forbodding tale from an old man residing on the island. Legend has it that there is a creature known as the sea spider in the open seas around the island. When the creature is past 200 years old, it will turn into a monster and devour humans to satisfy its appetite. However, curiousity kills the cat and Yukime decides to pursue the authenticity of the legend. And then, a girl suddenly appears on the beach. Possessed with a strange charm, she immediately attracts Hiroshi's attention and overcomes him. Soon later, strange things start to happen to the others whereby Kyoko and Ritsuko-sensei got attacked under strange circumstances. The true identity behind the mysterious girl is questioned and the legend behind the sea creature seems to be true after all.

Where it came from
Released in the summer of 1997, Hell Teacher Nube: Summer Holiday of Fear! Legend of the Sea of Suspicion was the second theatrical feature derived from the popular supernatural comedy manga series by Sho Makura and Takeshi Okano. Produced by Toei Animation as part of their Toei Anime Fair, the film was designed to capitalize on the series' successful television run, translating the manga’s blend of urban folklore and horror-themed slapstick into a standalone cinematic adventure.
The film was directed by Daisuke Nishio, a veteran of Toei’s major franchises who aimed to expand the scale of the titular protagonist Nube’s battles beyond his classroom setting. By placing the characters in a coastal environment during their summer break, the production team leaned into Japanese coastal myths to heighten the tension. Upon its release, the film was received as a quintessential example of late-nineties shonen animation, praised for its faithful character designs and its ability to condense the series' unique mix of scares and humor into a tight runtime.
