Meisuke "Nube" Nueno, a teacher at Doumori Elementary School and expert in the occult, finds it increasingly difficult to protect his students against dark forces. After one of his students is sent to a parallel world, Nube encounters an unusual spirit that sends him back in time to change one regretful event.
Although Nube manages to fix the situation, this succession of unlikely events suggests that a more serious menace may be threatening the peace of Doumori. To protect everyone he holds dear, Nube will have to overcome the demons of his past and uncover the nature of the looming supernatural danger.

Where it came from
Jigoku Sensei Nube (2025) serves as a modern revival of the iconic 1990s supernatural manga series by Sho Makura and Takeshi Okano. Produced by Studio KAI, this installment continues the adventures of Nueno Meisuke, a teacher with a demonic hand who protects his students from yokai and urban legends. The 2026 release of Part 2 maintains the aesthetic balance between the series' traditional comedic elements and the increasingly dark, high-stakes horror sequences that define the franchise's legacy.
The animation direction for this series aims to modernize the original character designs while honoring the nostalgic style of the classic manga. Studio KAI utilized contemporary digital techniques to emphasize the grotesque and kinetic nature of the spirit battles, a stylistic choice intended to resonate with long-time fans of the source material while introducing the series to a new generation. Critics have generally noted that this adaptation serves as a faithful, visually polished continuation of the series' established lore.
