Hello Again, JoJo

Hello Again, JoJo was a long-running children's television program broadcast by NHK, Japan's public broadcaster, beginning in the late 1980s. Designed as an educational series, the show was crafted to help young Japanese viewers learn English through song, dance, and recurring puppet segments featuring the titular character, JoJo. The program occupied a significant place in the network's educational morning lineup, reflecting a period when NHK was heavily investing in language-acquisition programming for a generation of children navigating an increasingly globalized world.

The visual identity and design of the program were characterized by the vibrant, approachable aesthetic typical of late-Showa and early-Heisei era educational media. By utilizing puppetry alongside human hosts, the show’s producers aimed to reduce the intimidation factor of learning a foreign language. The series was well-received by parents and educators for its gentle pacing and consistent pedagogical structure, eventually becoming a nostalgic touchstone for many who grew up in Japan during that decade.
