To top it all off, he's later reincarnated as a devil by his gorgeous senpai who tells him that she is also a devil and now his master! One thing's for sure, his peaceful days are over. In a battle between devils and angels, who will win?

Where it came from
High School DxD emerged in 2012 as an anime adaptation of the light novel series written by Ichiei Ishibumi and illustrated by Miyama-Zero. Produced by the studio TNK and directed by Tetsuya Yanagisawa, the series was conceived as a high-octane blend of supernatural action, comedy, and harem tropes. The production aimed to lean heavily into the stylized, fan-service-driven aesthetic that defined the source material, balancing elaborate fantasy lore with character-focused narrative arcs.
Upon its release, the series became a notable entry in the late-night television landscape, characterized by its unapologetic embrace of its genre conventions. The design work, overseen by character designer Junji Gotō, focused on creating distinct, recognizable silhouettes for the diverse cast of devils and angels. While the series polarized critics due to its overt content, it was well-received by its target audience, eventually spawning multiple sequels and cementing its place as a staple of early 2010s ecchi anime.
