Where it came from
The Hololive English promotional videos emerged during 2021 as a strategic evolution for Cover Corp, designed to introduce the inaugural English-speaking generations, HoloMyth and HoloCouncil, to a global audience. These shorts were produced to synthesize the personalities of the talents with high-production animation, bridging the gap between traditional VTuber streaming content and polished, cinematic storytelling.
The visual direction, often handled by various independent studios and animators under the guidance of Hololive Production, aimed to capture the distinct lore of each character while maintaining the vibrant aesthetic of Japanese character design. Upon release, these videos served as pivotal onboarding tools for international fans, helping to solidify the franchise's rapid growth and setting a new visual standard for how virtual idol groups introduce their members to a broader digital landscape.
