Hong Mao Lan Tu: Maoyan Kan Yuzhou

Hong Mao Lan Tu: Maoyan Kan Yuzhou, known in English as Rainbow Cat and Blue Rabbit: Cat Eyes Looking at the Universe, is a science fiction installment within the long-running Rainbow Cat and Blue Rabbit franchise produced by the Hunan-based studio Great Dreams Cartoon. Released as a departure from the traditional wuxia-inspired fantasy narratives that established the brand's immense popularity in the mid-2000s, this series was developed to capitalize on the educational trend of introducing space exploration and scientific concepts to younger audiences through established animated characters.

The series design maintains the recognizable, stylized character aesthetic defined by the original creator, He Mengfan, but shifts the visual language toward futuristic environments and spacecraft. While the show faced a shifting media landscape compared to the massive cultural footprint of the original 2006 series, it represents the studio’s effort to evolve the intellectual property by blending serialized adventure with modular scientific discovery episodes, reflecting the broader push in Chinese children's television to integrate STEM education into animated storytelling.
