Hongse Jiangshan: Huangma Fenghuo

Hongse Jiangshan: Huangma Fenghuo, produced by the Boruntong studio, is a representative example of early 21st-century Chinese animated television programming aimed at a domestic audience. The series was created within the broader context of promoting national heritage and educational animation, a trend supported by state initiatives during this period to bolster the local animation industry against the dominance of imported international media.

The design of the series centers on historical motifs, utilizing traditional artistic styles repurposed for a digital television format. Boruntong, known for contributing to various instructional and storytelling projects, approached the visual direction with the intent of balancing clear, accessible character design with thematic gravitas. Upon its release, the series was received primarily as a contribution to the growing body of domestic children's entertainment, serving as a functional piece of television media intended for syndication across regional and national channels.
