Where it came from
Pre-Revelation is a promotional ONA released by miHoYo in 2020 to expand the narrative depth of the Honkai Impact 3rd universe. Produced by the studio Wonderium, the short film functions as a cinematic bridge, offering insight into the complex motivations and tragic history of the character Kiana Kaslana during a pivotal turning point in the game's main storyline.
The design and visual direction focus on the series' signature blend of high-fantasy aesthetics and emotionally grounded character animation. Wonderium utilized this production to emphasize the somber atmosphere of the game's later chapters, favoring a melancholic color palette and fluid combat choreography that aligns with the established visual language of the franchise to resonate with long-time players.
