Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere XXI-PV

The Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere XXI-PV was released in 2018 as a special media project associated with the expansive light novel series written by Minoru Kawakami and illustrated by Satoyasu. Produced by the studio Sunrise, this release serves as an extension of the franchise's complex, dense world-building, which centers on a future version of humanity struggling to reclaim history atop a massive, flying city-state. The project reflects the ambitious scale of the original source material, which is noted for its intricate geopolitical themes and uniquely dense narrative structure.

The design and production of this release were handled by the creative teams at Sunrise, who aimed to translate the series' high-concept science fiction aesthetic into a specialized format for long-time fans. The visual presentation maintains the established aesthetic of the anime adaptation, characterized by its vibrant color palette and detailed character designs. Upon its arrival, the release was received primarily as a collector's companion piece, designed to deepen the experience of the central narrative rather than alter the trajectory of the overarching anime franchise.
