Where it came from
Released in 2018 to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the Precure franchise, this feature film serves as a grand crossover event between the then-current series, HUGtto! Precure, and the inaugural series, Futari wa Precure. Produced by Toei Animation, the film was designed as a nostalgic celebration that united all characters from the preceding fifteen years of the franchise, aiming to bridge the gap between long-time fans and a new generation of viewers.
The film's narrative centers on the antagonist Miden, who steals the memories of the Precure, forcing the protagonists to reclaim their shared history. Directed by Hiroshi Miyamoto, the production was noted for its ambitious scale, as it set a Guinness World Record for the most magical warriors in an anime film. It was received warmly by both critics and the core audience for its emotional weight and its ability to weave together the distinct aesthetic styles of the franchise's varied iterations.
