Hui Jing Shaonü

Hui Jing Shaonü, also known as The Girl in the Paintings, was produced by Tencent Penguin Pictures as a visually distinct ONA, or original net animation. It emerged during a period of significant growth for Chinese animation, where platforms like Tencent Video began investing heavily in domestic productions to cater to a rising demand for high-quality, stylistically ambitious storytelling.

The series is noted for its unique visual approach, which often experiments with artistic motifs to differentiate itself from mainstream commercial works. By utilizing the ONA format, the production team was able to bypass traditional broadcast constraints, allowing for a creative focus on aesthetic depth and atmospheric world-building that resonated with niche audiences interested in the evolution of modern Chinese digital art.
