Mew and Mica are alien androids sent by their boss to defend the Earth. Unfortunately for our planet, they are the laziest superheroines you will ever meet. Now most superheroes would drop whatever they're doing, transform, and proceed to kick monsters' butts... but these two would do no such thing. Mew and Mica just can't let their duties interfere with their ice cream, arguments, or whatever activities they happen to be engaged in at the time. When they are not Hyper Dolls they seem to be just ordinary, rather cute school girls, lusted after by the boys.

Where it came from
Hyper Doll, released as a two-part original video animation (OVA) series in 1995, was produced by Triangle Staff. It emerged during the mid-nineties boom of the magical girl subgenre, offering a satirical take on the tropes of the era. The series follows two alien entities, Mew and Mica, who adopt human forms to protect Earth, blending high-energy action with situational comedy that mocks the responsibilities forced upon teenage superheroines.
The character designs and animation reflected the aesthetic sensibilities of the mid-1990s anime industry, emphasizing expressive, oversized visuals that suited the series' comedic tone. While it did not reach the cultural ubiquity of contemporary classics, it remains a notable example of the era's experimentation with the 'magical girl' formula, specifically its focus on the mundane, frustrating side of superhero life rather than purely heroic narratives.
