Hyperdimension Neptunia The Animation: Nep-Nep Festival

Hyperdimension Neptunia The Animation: Nep-Nep Festival was released in 2022 as an original video animation produced by studio Okuruto Noboru. It serves as a narrative continuation of the anime adaptation of the Hyperdimension Neptunia video game franchise, which anthropomorphizes video game consoles into characters known as CPUs. The project was created to commemorate the series' ongoing popularity and to provide fans with a standalone story featuring the core cast of Neptune, Noire, Blanc, and Vert in a lighthearted, festival-themed setting.

The animation reflects the aesthetic established by the long-running series, prioritizing a vibrant, neon-saturated color palette and character designs that lean heavily into tropes from the JRPG genre. Okuruto Noboru took over animation production duties for the franchise's later installments, aiming to maintain visual consistency with previous iterations while showcasing the comedic banter and metafictional commentary that define the brand. Upon release, the OVA was received primarily by the franchise's established fanbase as a celebratory supplement to the existing narrative canon.
