Where it came from
Hyperdimension Neptunia: Little Purple Sunshine was produced by Studio Okuruto Noboru and released in 2023 as an original video animation. It serves as an extension of the long-running Hyperdimension Neptunia franchise, which originated as a series of role-playing video games centered on personified game consoles. The OVA was developed to provide fans with a standalone narrative experience that maintains the series' characteristic blend of industry satire, lighthearted comedy, and character-driven fantasy.
The production sought to capture the aesthetic and tonal identity established in earlier anime adaptations, focusing on the character Neptune in her 'Purple Heart' transformation. As a niche entry within the franchise's multimedia expansion, the animation was created primarily for the dedicated fanbase, receiving reception that emphasizes its continuity with the established visual style and voice-acting cast that fans associate with the core series.
