Where it came from
I’ll Become a Villainess Who Goes Down in History is a 2024 television anime adaptation produced by Maho Film and published by Kadokawa. The series is based on the light novel written by Izumi Okido and illustrated by Jyun Hayase, which follows the narrative of Alicia Williams, a protagonist determined to transform herself into the most wicked villainess in history after being reincarnated into her favorite otome game world.
The production leans into the popular villainess subgenre, balancing comedic tropes with a subversion of traditional character archetypes. Directed by Yūji Yanase, the series was designed to translate the source material’s lighthearted tone and vibrant character interactions into an episodic format, focusing on Alicia's earnest but misguided efforts to achieve her goal of notoriety while inadvertently performing acts of kindness.
