After saving humanity from the despicable Demon King, Leo Demonhart does not earn a hero’s standing. Instead, he is regarded with suspicion and hostility by those he fought to protect. Treated as a pariah with nowhere else to turn, exiled Leo seeks a position in the army of his former nemesis! But the army is not what it once was before its defeat at Leo’s hands, so to maintain his new position, Leo must whip the forces back into fighting shape.

Where it came from
I'm Quitting Heroing, or Yuusha, Yamemasu, originated as a light novel series written by Quantum and illustrated by Hana Amano. Following its 2022 television adaptation by studio EMT Squared, the project garnered attention for its subversion of traditional high-fantasy tropes, focusing on the bureaucratic and moral complexities of a hero integrating into the societal structure of the demon queen he once sought to defeat.
The production sought to balance lighthearted workplace comedy with introspective character drama. The creative team leaned into a polished visual aesthetic that differentiates the protagonist's heroic past from his pragmatic present. While it received mixed reactions for its tonal shifts between comedic relief and heavier existential themes, it is recognized as a notable entry in the modern deconstructionist fantasy genre.
