Inazuma Eleven: Outer Code

Inazuma Eleven: Outer Code was released in 2016 as a series of short original net animations designed to bridge the narrative gap between the original Inazuma Eleven series and the reboot, Inazuma Eleven: Ares no Tenbin. Produced by Level-5, these shorts were intended to reintroduce fans to familiar characters from the first game's timeline while establishing the darker, more grounded tone of the upcoming project. The series functioned primarily as a promotional vehicle to build anticipation for the new story arc by showing how original protagonists were transitioning into their new roles.

The animation maintained the signature aesthetic established by OLM for the franchise, emphasizing dynamic character designs and high-energy sports sequences. Creative oversight remained with Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino, who sought to leverage nostalgia to transition the fanbase toward the newer iteration of the series. While the shorts were shorter in length compared to full episodes, they were generally well-received by the community for providing a bridge that honored the legacy of the original team while setting the stage for a narrative reset.
