Where it came from
Infini-T Force: Gatchaman - Saraba Tomo yo was produced by Digital Frontier and released in 2018 as a theatrical conclusion to the Infini-T Force television series. The project was part of a larger 55th-anniversary celebration for Tatsunoko Production, the legendary studio behind iconic works like Gatchaman, Casshan, Tekkaman, and Hurricane Polymar. The movie aimed to unite these disparate heroes into a single narrative crossover, utilizing a distinct 3D computer-generated animation style that transitioned from the series to the big screen to provide a definitive resolution to the protagonists' journey.
The film was directed by Jun Matsumoto and written by Kanji Kumagai, focusing on the character Ken Washio, also known as Gatchaman. The design team sought to update the classic aesthetic of the original 1970s character models while adhering to the modern requirements of 3D rendering. Upon its release, the film was largely received as a nostalgic tribute for long-term fans of the studio, praised for its technical ambition in blending classic character tropes with contemporary action sequences, serving as a heartfelt farewell to the franchise's legacy.
