Where it came from
It Girl is an American comic book series published by Image Comics, debuting in 2004 as a spin-off from the popular series Madman, created by Michael Allred. The title centers on Luna Romy, a character who gained the ability to shift into various forms after contact with alien artifacts, following her transition from a supporting character to a protagonist tasked with managing the superhero community in Snap City.
The series is noted for its distinct aesthetic, which leans heavily into the retro-pop, mid-century modern influence typical of Allred's work. While Michael Allred handled the original character designs and initial covers, the interior art transitioned through various collaborators, including Jamie S. Rich and Mike Norton. It was generally received as a stylistic and lighthearted expansion of the Madman universe, praised for its colorful visuals and the character's journey toward autonomy.
