Where it came from
It's My Life was produced by the studio Creators in Pack and released as an original video animation in 2019. The project was launched via a crowdfunding campaign on the platform Makuake, aiming to adapt the light novel series written and illustrated by Imigimuru. The story follows a retired captain of the Imperial Guard who seeks a quiet life of solitude, only to have his peaceful retirement disrupted by a young sorceress named Astra.
The character designs and visual style prioritize a balance between the protagonist's gruff, world-weary demeanor and the whimsical nature of his new companion. By adapting the source material's blend of slice-of-life comedy and fantasy action, the production sought to capture the charm of the original light novels. Upon its release, the animation was primarily received by the established fanbase that supported its production, serving as a dedicated visual companion to the literary work.
