My name is Toma Hikaru. I'm going to Izumo Gakuen High School with Miyuki who is my little sister-in-law, Nanami-chan who was my childhood friend, and Nagisa who thinks of me as a rival. I began to have a strange dream of a beautiful shrine maiden, who is praying something naked in a lake. I wonder who she is; I think I know her... I also see a strange room of Izumo Gakuen in my dream. Feeling uneasy, I decide to sneak into the room, not knowing it is the beginning of the long journey.

Where it came from
The Izumo OVA, released in 2003 by the Milky Animation Label, serves as a screen adaptation rooted in the visual novel medium that flourished in the early 2000s. Developed during a period when many adult-oriented visual novels were being transitioned into animated formats to leverage their growing fanbases, this production aimed to condense the narrative complexities of the original game into a more accessible serialized visual format.
The project was characteristic of the era's focus on character-driven supernatural storytelling, relying on the established aesthetic established by the game’s original artists. While the animation style was designed to reflect the popular trends of contemporary OVA productions, its critical and audience reception remained largely confined to established fans of the niche genre, serving primarily as a supplementary piece of media rather than a standalone artistic landmark.
