Where it came from
The Jongtama PV was produced by Yostar Pictures as a promotional short to celebrate the popularity of the online mahjong platform Mahjong Soul. Released to coincide with game updates and seasonal events, the short was designed to introduce the game's unique character-driven aesthetic to a broader audience, emphasizing the expressive, anime-inspired art style that distinguishes the title from traditional digital mahjong simulations.
The animation features character designs and storyboards managed by the internal team at Yostar, who focused on capturing the lighthearted, often humorous personality of the game's collectible characters. By integrating high-quality animation with the core mechanics of the game, the studio successfully bridged the gap between enthusiast-level mahjong play and the visual appeal of a social-gacha experience, receiving praise from the community for its fluid motion and faithful character representation.
