Jormungand: Perfect Order

Jormungand: Perfect Order is the second season of the anime adaptation of Keitaro Takahashi’s manga, produced by White Fox and released in 2012. It continues the story of Koko Hekmatyar, an international arms dealer, and her team of mercenaries as they pursue her ambitious and controversial plan to establish world peace through global instability. The series was brought to international audiences by Funimation, which licensed the show for its home video release following the success of the first season earlier that year.

The series is noted for its gritty, cynical take on the geopolitics of the military-industrial complex, a signature theme of Takahashi’s original work. The character designs were adapted for animation by Takaaki Yamauchi, who sought to maintain the hard-edged aesthetic of the manga while capturing the high-octane action sequences of the narrative. Upon its release, the show was well-regarded for its mature storytelling and its willingness to tackle ethical dilemmas, distinguishing it from more conventional action-oriented anime of the period.
