Judo Boy

Judo Boy, known in Japan as Kurenai Sanshiro, was produced by Tatsunoko Production and premiered in 1969. Created by Tatsuo Yoshida, the series was designed to capitalize on the rising popularity of martial arts in Japanese media, centering on a young man traveling the globe to find the one-eyed stranger who killed his father. It occupies a notable place in the studio's history as an early example of the action-oriented storytelling that would come to define the Tatsunoko style.

The character design and visual direction reflect the distinct, angular aesthetic characteristic of Yoshida's studio during the late 1960s. The series was crafted to provide an intense, episodic narrative that blended traditional judo techniques with the adventurous spirit of contemporary international cinema.
