Jujutsu Kaisen PV

The Jujutsu Kaisen promotional video, produced by Yokohama Animation Lab, serves as a significant artifact from the early visibility phase of Gege Akutami’s dark fantasy franchise. Before the series received its full-scale television adaptation, this short ONA was released to generate interest and establish the aesthetic tone of the sorcery-filled world. It functions as a visual proof-of-concept, distilling the grit and kinetic energy of the manga’s initial chapters into a compressed, high-impact format designed to captivate potential readers and industry stakeholders alike.

The design of this piece was tasked to the animation team at Yokohama Animation Lab, who focused on capturing the visceral intensity of Akutami's character designs and the eerie atmosphere of his cursed spirits. The animation style was intended to emphasize the fluidity of combat, a hallmark that would later become central to the identity of the franchise. Upon release, it was well-received by the existing manga fanbase for its faithful representation of the source material's ominous, high-stakes aesthetic and its successful role in building momentum prior to the subsequent major studio productions.
