TV Asahi announced a new kids anime "Kaidan Restaurant (Thriller Restaurant)" based on a picture book. Each episode will consist of three stories or ''dishes'': the appetizer, the main dish, and dessert. The first two ''dishes'' will deal with an ordinary sixth-grade schoolgirl named Ako Ozara and the bizarre occurrences that befall her classmates. The third ''dish'' will be a standalone short ghost story told by Ako and her friends.

Where it came from
Kaidan Restaurant, known in Japan as Kaidan Restaurant, was produced by Toei Animation and aired in 2009. The series was based on a popular anthology of horror books for children written by Miyoko Matsutani. It emerged from a long-standing tradition of Japanese folklore-inspired storytelling, designed to bridge the gap between traditional ghost stories and modern animation sensibilities to capture the imaginations of a younger generation.
The character design and visual direction were crafted to maintain a balance between spooky, atmospheric horror and the approachable aesthetic of a children's television program. By utilizing an episodic format that featured three distinct tales per broadcast—ranging from urban legends to classic spirit folklore—the series sought to introduce viewers to the richness of the kaidan genre. Upon its release, it was well-regarded for its stylistic versatility and for successfully adapting a beloved literary series into a cohesive visual medium.
