Kaiju Yi Zuo Shan 2

Kaiju Yi Zuo Shan 2, also known as The Island of Giant Insects 2, emerged from the burgeoning Chinese animation sector as a follow-up to Tencent Penguin Pictures' adaptation of the horror-survival manga by Yasutaka Fujimi and RED ICE. Released as an ONA (Original Net Animation) series, the production sought to capitalize on the cult success of its predecessor, which garnered significant attention for its intense creature-design elements and high-stakes survival tropes characteristic of the genre.

The series design and animation direction were handled by Passione, a studio recognized for its distinct approach to atmospheric horror and character detail. The creative team aimed to maintain the visceral tone established in the first season, focusing on the harrowing struggle of students stranded on an island populated by lethal, oversized insects. While the series faced criticism regarding its animation consistency, it remains a notable example of the trend toward cross-border adaptations of Japanese manga by Chinese digital platforms.
