Where it came from
The Kanojo, Okarishimasu collaborative mini animation was produced by AQUA ARIS in 2020 as a promotional companion to the first season of the Rent-a-Girlfriend anime series. These short-form pieces were designed to bolster engagement with the series' debut, focusing on the character dynamics between Kazuya Kinoshita and the rental girlfriends through lighthearted, supplemental storytelling that maintains the visual aesthetic established by the main studio, TMS Entertainment.
The animation reflects the trend of short-form digital content released alongside major anime broadcasts to capitalize on social media virality. By utilizing a minimalist production style, AQUA ARIS was able to expand upon the character tropes established in Reiji Miyajima’s original manga, providing fans with fleeting, humorous vignettes that reinforced the series' premise of simulated romance while serving as a bridge between the primary weekly episodes.
