This work "Kikumana" is an animation of a girl called Kikumana who acts like in a stage performance, the role defeated by such an ill circumstance though she tries to find herself. The primal aim is to get the audience feeling a strange atmosphere spread from this work. The image has a pictorial atmosphere and a documentary touch at the same time. Unrealistic phenomena take place there.

Where it came from
Kikumana was produced in 2001 by Studio Rikka as an original net animation, a medium that was still in its experimental infancy at the turn of the millennium. As one of the early examples of independent digital distribution in the Japanese animation industry, the project served as a technical showcase for the studio's interest in integrating web-based dissemination with traditional aesthetic sensibilities.
The creative direction focused on a minimalist visual narrative, utilizing a restrained palette to navigate the bandwidth limitations common to internet users of that era. Upon its release, it was noted primarily by animation enthusiasts and industry peers for its attempt to define a new, non-broadcast aesthetic, though it remained a niche work rather than a mainstream production.
