King of Fighters: Another Day

King of Fighters: Another Day is a four-episode original video animation series released in 2005, produced by the acclaimed studio Production I.G. It was commissioned to serve as a promotional bridge between the events of King of Fighters 2004 and the launch of the series' transition into the High-Definition era with King of Fighters XI. The narrative focuses on the bustling South Town setting, weaving together the personal stories of iconic characters like Kyo Kusanagi, Mai Shiranui, and Ash Crimson to capture the frenetic energy of the source material.

The series was directed by Masaki Tachibana, who sought to translate the fast-paced combat of the SNK arcade games into a cohesive, cinematic format. Production I.G aimed for a distinct visual style that prioritized fluid movement and atmospheric lighting, which distinguished it from previous, more traditional adaptations of the franchise. Upon its release, it was well-received by fans for its polished animation quality and for successfully grounding the high-stakes tournament world of the games in a more character-driven, urban setting.
